When you create an account on Price Hunter, we collect:
Used for account authentication and communication
Securely encrypted and stored via Auth0
Our browser extension automatically collects product information from supported retailers:
SKU, name, brand, current price, and product URL
Historical pricing data to track trends
You can use the Price Hunter extension without creating an account. In anonymous mode, we only collect product pricing data and do not associate it with any personal information.
We use the collected information for the following purposes:
Monitor and display historical pricing trends for products
Send notifications when products reach your target price (requires account)
Analyze aggregated data to improve our price tracking accuracy
Authenticate users and manage account preferences
We respect your privacy and do not collect:
We do not track which websites you visit outside of supported retailers
We do not build a personal profile of you or track your individual shopping behavior across sites. Our advertising partner may use non-personalized, contextual signals (such as the content of the page being viewed) to select an ad; see Section 9 (Advertising & Affiliate Relationships).
No financial data, addresses, phone numbers, or other sensitive information
Your data security is our priority:
All data is stored securely in MongoDB Atlas with encryption at rest
Passwords are encrypted and managed by Auth0, a leading authentication provider
Only authorized systems have access to your data, with strict access controls
We retain user data and price history for up to 5 years to provide historical trends
We use the following trusted third-party services:
Handles user authentication and password management securely
Cloud database provider for secure data storage
Website analytics to understand how our site is used (cookies may be used)
Displays non-personalized, contextual advertising on our public pages. See Section 9 (Advertising & Affiliate Relationships).
Powers the affiliate links on our outbound retailer buttons. See Section 9 (Advertising & Affiliate Relationships).
These services have their own privacy policies and we encourage you to review them.
We do not sell or rent your personal information to third parties. Two categories of third party do receive limited, non-personal data as an operational part of the service: our advertising partner (Google AdSense), which serves non-personalized, contextual ads on our public pages without receiving your name, email address, Auth0 identity, or alert/wishlist contents; and our affiliate partner (Sovrn), which receives the outbound retailer URL when you click a "Visit at retailer" / "Go to store" link, in order to attribute the referral. Neither relationship involves selling your personal information or sharing it for the third party's own marketing purposes. See Section 9 (Advertising & Affiliate Relationships) for details.

We use cookies through Google Analytics to understand how our website is used. These cookies help us improve the user experience by analyzing traffic patterns and site usage.
On our public pages (home, product search, and product detail pages) we also display ads served by Google AdSense, which may set advertising cookies or use similar technologies. These ads are configured to be served non-personalized: we do not enable ad personalization based on your browsing history or profile, and no PriceHunter account data (your Auth0 identity, email address, alerts, or wishlist) is ever passed to the ad provider. Google may still use non-personalized cookies for fraud prevention, frequency capping, and aggregate reporting. See Section 9 (Advertising & Affiliate Relationships) for more detail.
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Please note that disabling cookies may affect your ability to use certain features of our website.
Price Hunter is supported by two revenue channels on our public pages (home, product search, and product detail pages). Neither channel is active on the auth-gated Alerts or Wishlist pages.
We display a small number of ad units, each clearly labelled "Advertisements", served by Google AdSense. These ads are configured to be served non-personalized: our code sets Google's non-personalized-ads flag before any ad is requested, so ads are selected using contextual signals (such as the page being viewed) rather than a profile built from your browsing history, and no PriceHunter account data — your Auth0 identity, email address, alerts, or wishlist contents — is ever sent to Google. You may still see Google's standard non-personalized advertising cookies. If you are located in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, Google may limit or withhold ad serving to you in the absence of a certified consent-management platform; this does not affect any other part of the site.
Outbound links to retailers (for example, "Visit at retailer" and "Go to store") are routed through Sovrn, an affiliate network. If you make a purchase after clicking through, Price Hunter may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. This does not influence which products or prices we display; a link's destination and Price Hunter's reporting of prices are unaffected by whether a commission is earned. These links carry a rel="sponsored" attribute, the standard way of disclosing a paid or affiliate relationship to search engines, and are marked with a visible affiliate disclosure next to the link.
Price Hunter is available to users of all ages. We do not knowingly collect or target information from children. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a minor, please contact us immediately.
We may update this privacy policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal reasons. We will notify users of significant changes via email or a notice on our website. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy indicates when it was most recently revised.
